Praying-Part 2-Praying for our Families Seven Prayers for our Families
Today is the second part in a four part series on prayer. Next week we will be lifting up our communities in prayer, and the following week, we will be praying for our world. Each day has a short prayer that you can pray for a family member or members along with the Biblical reference. This is a list to get you started. Please add other requests that you have asked of God regarding a family member in the comments below so we can add to our list. Blessings to you as you pray on behalf of your family.
Monday
Merciful Father, I lift up marriages and pray that husbands and wives would love and respect each other.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Tuesday
Lord, please protect my family, guarding their paths.
For he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. Proverbs 2:8
Wednesday
Most High God, I pray my children obey their parents.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1
Thursday
Father God, I lift up my family members who are sick and ask that you will heal them completely.
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. James 5:14-15
Friday
I pray for parents, Lord, that we would have strength in the midst of our busy schedules and that You would infuse us with your strength.
But those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
Saturday
Lord, may all of my family members, both immediate and extended, have love for one another.
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9
Sunday
Sovereign Lord, I pray that my children will know you as their Savior.
From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:15
