Ten More Things the Bible Says About Fearing God

In today’s unreliable and ever-changing methods, we can obtain clear direction from the Word. Through the Holy Scriptures, we can receive guidance and counsel. By following His commands, we can navigate and have a roadmap for the path of life. So how do we ensure we are on the right path? How do make sure that our feet are not going in the wrong direction? How do we make certain we do not lose our way? It begins with fearing God. If we don’t fear the Lord, then we don’t have a firm foundation to make wise choices. Many people think they can become wise by acquiring more knowledge through study. They believe they can skip this important step of acknowledging Almighty God as the source of all wisdom. Fearing Him means to honor, respect, and revere the Lord and His Holy Word. Being in awe of the Savior affects our actions and attitudes. The journey of seeking wisdom begins with fearing God. Here are ten verses that focus on fearing Him:
- And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me. Jeremiah 32:40
2. Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name. Psalm 86:11
3. Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you. Psalm 31:19
4. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2
5. Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. Proverbs 3:7
6. The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom,
and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33
7. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
Because they hated knowledge
and did not choose the fear of the Lord,
would have none of my counsel
and despised all my reproof. Proverbs 1:28-30
8. My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom Yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5
9. In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence,
and his children will have a refuge. Proverbs 14:26
10. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them. Psalm 145:19

Wise God, all wisdom, understanding, and might come from You. Help us to fear and honor You each moment of our lives. Amen.
