Time Management

For many years, I had a long commute to and from work. During that time, I wrote this devotional. Now, my travel time to and from work is much shorter. However, I have found that the truths I learned then are still true today.

Each morning as I prepare to go to work, every moment is precious. Even the slightest delay can make me late for work. Before leaving the house, I must select my outfit for the day, tend to my hair and makeup, take my vitamins, brush my teeth, and spend some quiet time with the Lord. While preparing at home for my workday, I need to check my phone for traffic accidents as I travel on a major highway each morning. My mind needs to remember and account for the road construction issues as well. One minor problem in any of these categories can set me back minutes from arriving to work on time so I am careful to make sure I have done everything I can to alleviate any possible delays to work. Going through my strict morning routine one particular day, I thought about having this same mentality for all parts of my day. What if I used this same principle of being precise with my time for the rest of my day and my days in general? As the Word says, perhaps I would grow in wisdom which is something I desire. Therefore, I am working on not being lax with my time after work, and I am trying to number my minutes in the evening with the same concern that I have in the morning. I pray that I will walk in wisdom and make the most of my time and life.

Lord God, help us to number our minutes and our days so that we may have a heart of wisdom. Amen.
